This year, with the frequent occurrence of earthquakes, public concern for residential safety has heightened. Taiwan Matsuzawa and Dai Yunfa, Chairman of the "Building Safety Record Association," held a joint press conference on Tuesday, announcing their collaboration under the theme "Seismic Leadership: A New Era of Safe Buildings." The partnership aims to integrate Matsuzawa's seismic isolation equipment with Alfa Safe's structural system, employing innovative seismic-resistant methods to further optimize building safety. The goal is to set a new standard in building safety and enhance residential security.
There is a saying: "Earthquakes do not harm people, but buildings do." The fear of earthquakes is not from the earthquakes themselves, but from the damage and collapse they cause to buildings. Studies have shown that the seismic safety of a building is significantly influenced by whether the rebar is installed and tied according to the specified design drawings. Ensuring residential safety requires both excellent design and quality construction; the seismic safety of a building ultimately depends on the meticulousness of every construction detail.
Dai Yunfa stated that the "Alfa Safe Seismic System Method" employs a systematic and industrialized innovative construction approach to control quality from the source. It addresses parts of buildings that are prone to cracking, leaking, or earthquake damage. By using continuous rebar processed into a single piece at an automated processing plant, this method innovatively improves construction efficiency and quality. It also reduces labor requirements, addresses labor shortages, and ensures high construction quality, while minimizing human error and variability in worker skill levels.
Taiwan Matsuzawa has long been committed to promoting Japanese OILES seismic equipment technology. In recent years, the company has actively developed seismic products tailored to the Taiwanese market, providing more opportunities for Taiwanese builders to achieve seismic safety.
Since its establishment 30 years ago, the Li Hsin Group and Chairman Wu Songyuan of Taiwan Matsuzawa have prioritized building safety. During the 2011 "311" earthquake, Chairman Wu was in Tokyo and personally experienced the earthquake's impact, noticing the unique shaking methods used in Japanese buildings. This experience inspired his thoughts on future building safety in Taiwan and led to the founding of Taiwan Matsuzawa Seismic Equipment.
Given that Taiwan and Japan are both situated in the Pacific Ring of Fire, and Yilan is affected by tectonic pressure with frequent earthquakes, the awareness of seismic safety has increased, and seismic-resilient housing projects have become a focus. The "Li Hsin Qingtian" project also adopted seismic isolation methods. After the 403 Hualien earthquake this year, the project's video demonstrated the effectiveness of seismic-isolated buildings, which was impressive. Many residents of Qingtian in Taipei and Yilan could clearly see the difference after this earthquake, proving the excellent performance of the OILES seismic devices represented by Taiwan Matsuzawa.
An excellent seismic isolation device can reduce up to 70% of earthquake forces, while a well-designed beam and column system provides comprehensive protection for the remaining 30%. The collaboration between Taiwan Matsuzawa and Alfa Safe's seismic system aims to achieve a synergistic effect where 1+1 equals more than 2 in building safety.
Chairman Wu shared at the press conference that the common link between Taiwan Matsuzawa and Alfa Safe is their great passion for building. This passion drives them to excel in their work and fulfills their mission in the building profession. They aim to provide an excellent combination for building safety in Taiwan.
In the future, Taiwan Matsuzawa and Alfa Safe will jointly advance a new milestone in Taiwan's seismic safety, effectively optimizing the overall seismic quality of buildings from the ground up. The goal is to ensure that everyone lives in safe and secure buildings, creating a new generation of safe and high-quality homes in Taiwan.
